Workshop – Teaching Civic Conversations: Bringing Discourse from Washington’s Time into Today’s Classrooms
April 9 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, this full-day workshop explores George Washington’s leadership and the role his words played in shaping the early republic. Participants will examine how Washington navigated disagreement, spoke about unity, and guided a new nation through uncertainty using the Farewell Address and other key documents. Teachers will focus on making these ideas relevant for Wisconsin educators by connecting historical texts to civic discourse today and to discussion- and inquiry-based strategies that work in Wisconsin classrooms.
Breakfast and lunch are included.
