In Person Workshop: Facing History’s Approach to Middle School ELA
March 4 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Middle school ELA educators are invited to an in-depth workshop covering the unique offerings within our English Language Arts collections, including support around common instructional formats such as text sets, whole-class reads, and book clubs. Participants will leave with classroom-ready materials and be immersed in engaging activities from our two modular collections: Coming of Age in a Complex World and Borders and Belonging.
Participants will:
- Gain an overview of Facing History’s ELA resources
- Develop the mindset and tools to build an ELA course that invites perspective taking and ethical reflection and expands students’ critical thinking skills
- Experience new teaching strategies to engage students more deeply on the complexities of identity and belonging
