SUMMARY:PD (Virtual) - 60 Minute Civics A250: The Constitution as Living Document: Progress or Departure?
DESCRIPTION:Should the Constitution evolve with the times\, or should it be interpreted strictly as the Framers understood it? This session will examine the Framers’ vision of constitutional change\, the modern rise of originalism\, and the implications of these perspectives in today’s Supreme Court decisions. We will connect these themes to We the People Units 4 and 5\, which explore the evolving interpretation of the Constitution and the ongoing debates over its meaning in contemporary America. Together\, we’ll consider how differing approaches to constitutional interpretation shape law\, policy\, and civic life in the 21st century.

SUMMARY:Workshop - WI Act 266 Hmong in Wisconsin
DESCRIPTION:Hmong in Wisconsin with the Asian American EDUcation Project \nThe year 2025 represents a significant milestone: the 50th anniversary of the Hmong community’s first arrival to the United States. We invite you to join us for a workshop that delves into the complex history\, life stories\, and resilience of Hmong Americans in Wisconsin. This workshop will offer resources grounded in a culturally sustaining framework to teach these often overlooked stories. \nWCSS and the Asian American EDUcation Project have two awesome presentations coming up to help Wisconsin teachers meet the requirements set out in Act 266 and fill their toolbox with content and methods to teach Asian American Pacific Islander history to students. This is the first of two workshops.
