SUMMARY:Symposium for Teachers at UW-Stout: Free Speech\, Citizenship\, and Civil Dialogue
DESCRIPTION:The Menard Center for the Study of Institutions and Innovation at the University of Wisconsin-Stout\, in partnership with the Jack Miller Center\, is hosting a one-day symposium in Menomonie for Wisconsin teachers. \nThe symposium will focus on the First Amendment\, free expression rights\, and the practice of civil dialogue\, particularly in the classroom. Sessions will be led by Tim Shiell and Afton Greco of UW-Stout\, Eric Giordano of the Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service\, and JMC Teacher Programs Manager Emilee McHorney\, who will lead a classroom application session on teaching key First Amendment concepts and cases to middle and high school students. \nParticipants will receive a $200 stipend upon completion of the symposium.\n\nThere will be a one-hour virtual follow-up session to this symposium later in the fall.
