SUMMARY:Sowing Change Workshop: The Delano Grape Strike & Boycott
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will introduce 6th-12th grade humanities teachers to Facing History’s new unit\, Sowing Change Inquiry: The Delano Grape Strike and Boycott. While leaders play an important role in the success of social movements\, the collective efforts behind social change are often overlooked. Understanding the history of the California farm worker movement that emerged during the Delano grape strike (1965-1970) helps students reflect on the power of collective action and interethnic solidarity—as was demonstrated by Mexican and Filipino laborers—in enacting transformative social change. \nThis event will occur in-person at the Erikson Institute.\nAddress: 451 N. La Salle Chicago\, IL 60654

SUMMARY:9th Annual National Week of Conversation: April 6-12\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:National Week of Conversation was created for those exhausted by the division and hatred in our country. For those seeking ways to turn down the heat of polarization. It is a week to become inspired\, equipped and engaged in activities that build bridges across differences. \nOn behalf of the 500+ organizations dedicated to bringing Americans together across divides to build understanding\, trust\, relationships\, and solutions — we invite you to join us in fostering unity over division. Bring your passions and differences to the table so we can find a way forward together. \n\n\n\n\nNational Week of Conversation was created for those exhausted by the division and hatred in our country. For those seeking ways to turn down the heat of polarization. It is aweek to become inspired\, equipped and engaged in activities that build bridges across differences.\n\n\n\nThis is not about changing our opinions on issues\, but rather changing our perspective of those who hold opinions different than our own. Disagreement is healthy for our democracy\, as differences can be catalysts for innovation\, but we need to find ways to disagree better. We need to lead with curiosity and empathy so we can thrive together as a diverse nation that is made more resilient because of our differences\, rather than be weakened by them.

SUMMARY:America 250: Residents of "Wisconsin" in the Revolutionary War with Mary Elise Antoine
DESCRIPTION:Join Mary Antoine for this special America 250 event on the Wisconsin residents who fought in the Revolutionary War. \n\n\nThe Wisconsin History Makers Tour will bring history directly to local communities in every region of the state. In collaboration with community partners\, the tour offers an exciting opportunity for our historians\, curators and authors to visit your community and share the stories of our great state. \nMichel Charles de Langlade and his family had been living at la Baye for less than ten years when British soldiers and colonists exchanged musket fire on Lexington green. Within a year\, Michel and the Native nations of the western Great Lakes-upper Mississippi region\, with whom he and other Canadians traded\, were drawn into the conflict to determine whether Great Britain’s North American colonies would gain independence from the rule of Parliament and King George. \nFrom the Continental Army’s invasion of Canada in 1775 to Great Britain’s plan in 1780 to capture St. Louis and regain the Illinois County\, residents of what is now Wisconsin participated in the Thirteen Colonies’ war for independence. \nMary Elise Antoine will explain how Canadians and Native people of the western Great Lakes-upper Mississippi region were part of the American Revolution\, who participated and why they fought\, the results of the battles in which they fought\, and the effect of the war in what is now Wisconsin. \n\n\nEvent Details\nLEARN MORE HERE:  \nHistory Makers Tour – NC \npchswi@gmail.com \n\n\nLocation\nHeritage Park \n2700 Madison Avenue \nPlover\, WI 54467 \n\n\n
